My Life Issue 3

Hello again. I'm back. But not for long. I'm just stopping by to tell you guys about some more movies, trailers and my new addiction!
Summer Reading List
Yes, I've finally started reading on it. My grand epic list of the summer. And it's soon over! I've read The Surrogates, which was exeptionally good! It has great characters, cool art and a great story to the crime and beyond. I'll probably read the sequel and watch the movie. Because it will be awesome!
Now, onto the next book that I'm done with; Genesis by newcomer Bernard Beckett. And it was good. Of course, it wasn't the best book I've read so far this year: that prize goes to Neil Gaiman for finishing up Sandman with The Kindly Ones. Next thing to read is The Wake. In which I'll cry big, great crocodile tears. But back to Genesis: it was good. Everything about it was good. The ending was bittersweet, mostly because books about either a GREAT, but fucked future or just a fucked future usually ends with our main protagonist saving the future, and making it something better. In Genesis, Bernard did that. The only problem was that he did it in a way I've never thought of. And that's just the problem. It wasn't the sweet, genius ending that I thought the book was building up to. It ended like this: "HAHA! I fooled you! But this doesn't change anything: she's still lost." And the LOST-part didn't make me believe it. It was a little bit sad, but I hadn't gotten to know the character enough. Thus, it was good. Not great, but good. Now over to the next, GREAT book!
Yes, I'm talking about the sequel to Frank Miller's The Dark Knight Returns: Batman: The Dark Knight Strikes Again. And boy, did he really strike back! This graphic novel was GREAT. It wasn't better then The Dark Knight Returns, but it's up there! Superman, a daughter, Lex Luthor, Martian Manhunter, the Question, Wonder Woman, Bizarro, The Atom, The Flash and a conspiracy that needed to get out of the way! Turns out old Lex haven't been sitting in his but while all the other heroes took a break! In short: if you haven't read Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, go read it NOW! And then, read the sequel, Batman: The Dark Knight Strikes Again. Because, my friend, it is FUCKING AWESOME!
Then, over to the first volume of 52, which I'm soon done with. I have just gotten to REALLY read comics again, and I have to say: Boy, have I been missing out of all the fun! Because that's what 52 is: a whole shitload of fun! It's space-opera, crime, action, drama, sci-fi and fantasy. And it's all great! If you haven't read 52. Go buy. NOW.
And that was the comics/books I've read. Now, onto movies.
Movies
Okay, I haven't watched a shit load of movies. But I've rewatched The Incredibles and Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, which both are awesome, and Kiss x2 Bang x2 is one of my favorite movies EVER! It's so damn good! Anyway, I also watched Get Smart, which was ridiculously awesome. And I bought Airplane! and Airplane - The Sequel! I think they are really good... And extremely funny!
Trailers
The trailer for Jennifer's Body is giving me the creeps. I never thought the movie was going to be like that, but I'm definetivily lining up for this one! Looks like a teen version of Drag Me to Hell. Which I enjoyed very much...!
FlickChart
This is my new addiction. I'm loving this site, where you are given two movies and you are going to pick you're favorite. It sounds easy? Well, it's not. Not when the questions like: The Shawshank Redemption vs. American Beauty? What would you pick there? Or Evil Dead II vs. Pulp Fiction? Huh? It's torture! And tremendous fun!
And that's it. I'm not doing very much now, just chilling out and reading books. I'll watch some more movies soon, but that can wait. To me, summer is books and comics. So till next time:
- Have a ball!
