(UPDATED!) COSMIC

Earlier this year, I had an idea to write a sci-fi movie in which aliens attack our world. Like all my "unoriginal" ideas, I had my own little twist on it. The twist came from Wolfmother's COSMIC EGG-album. And yes; the twist was that multiple major cities in the world was hit by a Cosmic Egg. Nobody knew what to do, of course, and that was basically it. I've been waiting for more inspiration on this subject, because I knew that it was a cool idea; it just needed to evolve a little.

And now, the time has come. The original idea has evolved because of three things.

1)

2012. I'll admit it, the movie was awful. I absolutely hated it, even if it had some kind of entertainment value. I know it's another one of these "end of the world"-movies, but the beginning actually had me kinda hooked. And not the completely irrational science-blabber which makes no sense. It was the conspiracies that had me going. Because what if the world actually goes to hell on the 21st of December 2012? And what if the governments of our world knew about it? When the movie started to change its focuse towards that, I started to think; "Huh. That's actually quite brilliant. Maybe this is better than I thought". Truth is, it wasn't. They used the conspiracies to make a point, and that point was as stupid as the science and the chase-scenes. If Roland Emmerich only could see when he had a good story in his hands, and use what he had. It would've been awesome.

2)

The second thing that got me thinking of this was AVATAR, James Cameron's return to feature films and Sci-Fi. I saw it at the biggest THX theatre in the world, in Digital 3D, and it was awe-inspiring. AVATAR is Cameron's new masterpiece, and a great movie with a lot of thought put into it. And yes, the story is at times extremely easy to guess. Yes, you know what'll happen. But everything that brings you to that point is truly fantastic. The world of Pandora is so rich and detailed that it almost hurts to watch. It's that good.

I've heard about people complaining that the movie is too long and things like that. Readers; they are all lying. Those 3 hours are the fastest hours in my entire life. Time has never flown by that fast. I wasn't bored one minute of this movie. It was fantastic.

3)

Then we have arrived at the third and final reason it took for this idea to bloom. If you don't know, I live in Norway, in a place called Lørenskog, roughly 15 minutes outside of Oslo. When my mate and I drove from AVATAR, all these beams of light appeared in Lørenskog.

That's really all you need to know to get how this idea origined. Now, prepare for my original sci-fi tale

COSMIC

Cosmic is the name, sci-fi is the game. It's a normal Monday at Planet Earth. The day is as ordinary as every other monday. We follow:

James: A young and promising scientist with interesting ideas on how Aliens may have contacted us long ago, and that they once will return. Born in Canada and  (22 years old)

Steven: A writer for the New York Times. Living in New York, Manhattan. He's single but with lots of friends. Currently doing an article on James and his theories. (28 years old)

George: A normal family-father with two kids and a wife. Works as an accountant in California. Has many friends. Hates his job. Likes to hunt, but never has the time because of work and family. (34 years old)

David: 15 year old kid living in Texas. He's the town's bully, and never goes to school. He's always in trouble.

There are a lot of characters that I haven't mentioned (yes, the President has a part) but you don't really need 'em to understand what's going to happen.

Back to the completely normal Monday, in which we follow these fine people and their lives. But on mid-day, when George is driving home from work, James and Steven is sleeping and David is beating up a guy, these weird beams of light appear all over the world.

What follows is lots of thrilling moments of scientific investigation, religious thinking and philosophical thought as life on Earth is radically changed and thus all the lives of these people. The hottest topic in the world is what these lights are, why they suddenly appear and where they're coming from.

The movie starts as a drama, moves into the "Magnolia"-territory with following these peoples life's and how they're reacting along with the rest of the world when these lights appear. James and Steven are getting close to the truth with their big theories, but the government keeps blocking them out. Is it a conspiracy?

This is the first part of the movie; The movie shifts gears at the moment the real explanation for the is revealed, including Earth's true purpose isn't something anyone would've guessed.

The beams of light are, as a matter of fact, beacons. Earth is a hatching planet for an alien species. The beacons are dragging cosmic eggs towards them, hatching it along the way. When the egg arrives, it's almost fully hatched, and it's ready to feed and kill on this beautiful planet. The horrifying solution to the mystery is to bad, and all the good (and bad) people of Earth are suddenly fighting for their lives when these eggs hatch and goes on a truly horrible killing spree.

It's a mix of the first Alien-movie (and maybe the second), Predator, Magnolia and American Beauty. It's supposed to be badass, horrible, frightening and funny. And yes; the government knows about this. They're actually "The Watchers" - an alien species that hides on Earth, whose soul purpose is to guard the secret of Earth's true purpose.

Nobody knows where this egg-species are from, nor who why they are here at Earth. And who created the beacons? What is the purpose of letting these monsters attack Earth and kill everyone and then leave? Frankly, I don't know. But I think there's room for sequels here... :)
